Here is a photo of the iconic Vjesnik Skyscraper, which was the original home to the Vjesnik daily newspaper, which was originally established in 1940 as an illegal publication of the Communist Party of Croatia and served during #WWII as the primary news source on Partisan activities. On its 1941 cover, the paper carried the frontpage headline reading "Smrt fašizmu, sloboda narodu" or "Death to fascism, freedom to the people", which thereafter became the official slogan for the Partisans. After WWII during the Yugoslav-era, Vjesnik became one of the primary newspapers for Croatia. In this photo can be seen it's main offices, built between 1956 and 1972, designed in the International Style of #architecture. After the dismantling of Yugoslavia and the independence of Croatia during the 1990s, the popularity of the paper dramatically declined, and it disappeared and went defunct by 2012. Today the old Vjesnik building is primarily used as business offices.
