DO YOU NEED A HELPING HAND? . . We all have our own ways of dealing with stress, and some methods are more productive and useful than others. . . There are times when we just want a quick fix and we tackle it with EMOTION FOCUSED strategies, such as comfort eating, brooding and dwelling on the situation, blaming others and ourselves, turning to alcohol or drugs or simply avoiding and denying the problem hoping it will all just disappear. It’s easy to see how these methods can lead to even more problems. . . However, if we have the capacity to change things then being SOLUTION FOCUSED is often the best tactic. This may take the form of improving your time management so you create time to manage changes, or analysing the situation to decide what it is possible to really do and then making those changes, or asking others for help to share the burden or see if they can change the situation. In an ideal world this is the best way to deal with stress but it can feel daunting to do this on your own. . . I use a blend of Solution Focused therapy, the latest neuroscience and relaxing hypnotherapy to help and guide you to make the changes you need.
