Repost from our BA client @naturallysavagelife • R E A D T H I S C A P T I O N 👇 • Thanksgiving has come and gone but what hasn’t left is the great cocktails (more on that later) and the great eats. The holiday season, well winter in general in Minnesota, is full of hearty meals and delicious sweets. I don’t know about you, but it seems like everywhere I go, there is food to nibble on. However, for me, if I’m not paying attention, those little bites over the course of a day add up to one of my allotted meals. This is the time of year where I can easily succumb to my cravings if I am not paying attention. So as means to keep myself accountable during this season, I opted to get myself a tribe of women at @okonfitness, led by the Queen Bee @amarieokon, to help me stay consistent with my goals. DEAR MAMA(S): I have a message for you. 🤱🏾⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Investing in YOUR health IS NOT taking away from your children.⁣ 👶🏾👧🏾⁣ ⁣⁣ Sis, in fact, investing in your health is the BEST thing you can do for your child. 💚⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I know what you’re thinking, you can’t possibly understand...You aren’t a mother. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Let me give you a different perspective though... I’m a DAUGHTER.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Think back...what has your mother taught you about health and wellness? What habits did you pick up? What are your earliest memories of your mother and her self care? ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The next time you tell yourself that your health and self care aren’t important enough to be a priority on that never ending mental list...⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Remember...⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Your child is watching you go to bed after skipping meals just to tiptoe in the kitchen at midnight to grab the chips you hid in the drawer no one looks in. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Your child hears you make excuses about working out because you cant find the time. They learn that exercise isn’t an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. They learn it’s optional - something you do when you “have the time”. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Your child is watching you flip thru magazines at the doctors office, wincing at the women with shredded abs saying “Oooouu if I had her body” just to grow up believing that confidence only comes from having a specific body type.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Your child is watching you constantly value everything over yourself. They grow up to value the feelings of toxic and manipulative friends and partners above their own.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Your child is watching you avoid the camera because you’re self conscious about the way you look. They grow to believe that to be in front of the camera you have to be perfect --so they put their dreams of modeling to the side. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If I could go back I would tell my mother she DESERVES to put her health first, period.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ That seeing her fit and healthy is the most important habit I could ever mirror. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Let me ask you... ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ What would you tell your mother?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Better yet...⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ What will your child say about you?
