Week 2 coming at ya 👊 Well @amoila_cesar you sure turned up the heat on this one. Total Body Push/Pull tested both of us in our push ups , curls , burpees. We definitely felt stronger afterwards though mixed with some death 💀😅 I was just telling Kevin how these aren’t your normal “home workouts” that you may think of. It’s nothing like Jane Fonda 80s Workout Videos or Jillian Michaels videos. & if they were you wouldn’t be seeing him do ANY OF THIS 😂 You are getting THE BEST 1:1 Training from the TOP Professionals who you have instant access to that will teach you step by step. Well... Day 4 of my new workout program (yesterday was a rest day, thank goodness). Just a HUGE thank you to all my friends who wouldn’t allow me to QUIT. ❤️❤️❤️ . On Friday night I completed the 100th and final workout of the program we started in August. . I did it in 95 days. I was proud of myself for finishing, so were my boys 🥰 . The thing is- I didn’t love this program. I didn’t even like it. It was NOT my jam. (Some people LOVE IT!! Everyone is different 😉). . Around workout 40 I highly considered quitting... 😬 have you ever quit something you started that you SWORE you would finish? (I have! 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️) . But I gave my word that I would finish. I made a commitment to my challengers, my fellow coaches, and to MYSELF. . What I began to realize is JUST how impactful this community we have here is. Without y’all I wouldn’t have finished. When I first started consistently working out, I constantly had thoughts like... “𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙨...” 𝙤𝙧, “𝙈𝙮 𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩” 𝙤𝙧, “𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙚 𝙏𝙃𝘼𝙏 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜...”. Let's talk morning routines. Do you have a consistent one that works for you or are you always rushing to get things organized at the start of your day? I find that the best morning routines actually start the night before....first by setting a plan of how you want your day to unfold and then setting yourself up for success. I used to sleep until the last possible moment before I would need to get the boys up and ready for their day, make breakfast, lunches, last minute check that they had everything they needed for school etc. Then it was a rush out the door for everyone. Now that they are older and driving themselves to University or High School, making their own lunches, etc., I could still sleep til the last moment but I've found that having my quiet time before the house stirs sets my day up for success. Before bed, I have my Ipad charging so it's ready to stream my workout on apple tv in my basement. Workout clothes are laid out and pre workout container is on the kitchen counter. Simple enough and it seems so relaxed and peaceful to just get up in the morning with everything waiting for me. This quiet time is important to me to get my intentions straight for the day. It wasn't easy to get into this routine, but it has been so worth it. On the occasional days that I might miss my early me time, I feel like I'm behind all day. I’ve decided to share my 6 week journey through the Holidays, with the hopes that it lights a fire under your a** to cut the excuses and take care of yourself 😉 WEEK 1: Broke me. Or at least I felt completely broken on Sunday. My back was killing, my arms were killing, my legs and butt were killing. On the bright side, I finished every workout for the week. I made sure I drank my superfoods in order to get al of my nutrients into my system, AND ate lots of veggies and protein, because my goal is to GAIN some muscle. Mood wise, I’m feeling great. I needed a reset and this is exactly what I needed! The community has been GREAT! So many others who chose to join me for 6 weeks and they are killing it! Today I started a new program called The Work. As I finished, I couldn’t help but feel blessed I get to do this right in my own living room. You see, I used to think I could only get these results by joining a gym. But I have been more successful with at home workouts and challenge groups than I ever have with any gym membership. Now, I’m not knocking anyone who chooses a gym, you’re still working on your health. But I want to discuss a few of the amazing pros of a challenge group and at home workouts. A ONE time fee. No enrollment fees, monthly dues, or cancellation fees. What I do costs me less than FIFTY CENTS a day. No fighting traffic, travel time, or crappy weather to deal with. Obliques! I have far from perfect abs (having three babies doesn’t help!) but I do have strong obliques. I wanted to share some of my favourite oblique exercises you can add to your weekly core work. 1. Russian twists - use a kettlebell, medicine ball or just body weight. 2. Opposite shoulder taps. Minimize hip movement and keep your belly button pulled in to your spine. 3. Hip drops. Try to not let the core drop, just the hips 4. Side plank reach-unders. Keep hips high and belly tight. You can bring this to your forearm if you need, or drop your front knee down 5. Plank pull throughs (my fave!!). Again, minimize hip movement, find control, and keep belly tight. I used to loooove going to the gym🏋️♀️...except for the germy childcare 🤧 and getting called out of class or my workout to change a diaper. It was hard getting there on time ⏰for a class since it revolved around somone else's schedule and I was almost always late after school drop off for the other kids. . Thankfully, my friend had invited me to join one of her challenge groups a number of times, and even though I wasn't interested at first (I mean, I had done a full Ironman, half IM and tons of shorter triathlons, I thought that there was no way in this world that at home workouts would yield real results...I was 100% wrong!!), I kept it in the back of my mind. . After a loooong time,I finally decided to give it a try because I had nothing to lose. Workouts under 3️⃣0️⃣minutes, all from home and I'm now in the best shape of my life...after 4 kids!!👶🧒👦👧 . What a game changer it has been!!! Not only do I have so much time back, but it is CHEAP!!! I only pay $8 a month to have access to thousands of workouts and the best trainers in the biz!!! I wasn’t going to workout today. But then I logged into my bootcamp and saw all my ladies logging their workouts for the day. This inspired me to open my laptop and push play! People always ask me how I stay motivated to workout every day. The truth is, I’m not. No one is really. Everyone has days where they could care less to get off the couch. But what gets me up and keeps me going is this community and remembering WHY I started. I committed to bettering myself and showing up for the ladies in my bootcamp who are doing the same. Working out everyday is not about always being motivated. It’s about making a choice. Struggling to find motivation to workout? Choose to join a community of people who will inspire you and support you along your journey. Choose to schedule a non-negotiable appointment with yourself to workout every day. Choose to keep reminding yourself why you started!
IF YOU WANT 2020 TO BE YOUR YEAR.....⠀ ⠀ Something has to change with your current. You can’t sit on the couch and expect different things to happen. You must intentionally make a change. You must make actual moves. Do NEW things. ⠀ ⠀ Walk away from the negative, replace it with a positive. You have to realize what it is that you want to change, and you have to make an internal and intentional decision to change it. And you have to realize that, with change comes discomfort. SO WHEN YOU GET UNCOMFORTABLE, YOU CANNOT QUIT. The discomfort will be proof you are changing. Go against the norm. Make 2020 your year. Don’t just say it, DO IT⚡️ #mondaymotivation💪

A strong core is the center of it all Your core is used for stabilizing your movements all day long, especially in exercise and weight training. This week I will go over different ways your can strengthen your core from being on the ground to standing upright. Below in the descriptions I’ve listed some more tips/tricks that the videos don’t show. 1. forearm plank, core tight, belly button into spine. Tail bone tucked slightly and elbows under shoulders. You can also do elevated plank on your hands, make sure your wrists are lined up under your shoulders and follow all other instructions. 2. Side plank. Many different variations here depending on your abilities. If you are wobbly on your hands, I definitely recommend starting on your forearm. 3. Dead bug. This is a great core move. Can’t extend your legs or arms out straight? Go with smaller movements for your limbs. 4. Hollowman hold. Oh boy does this one burn! Don’t forget to breathe, don’t hold it!! 5. Roll ups. You can make this harder by adding hand weights. Slow controlled motions on this one. Squeeze your core and low back on the way back down. 30seconds-1 minute on plank, side plank and hollowman holds. 20 reps total for dead bug 10-15 slow controlled roll ups. Let me know how you do! I completed my 100 day program! On October 30th, I pressed play on workout 100. I committed and finished! And this is what it looked like when I completed my last workout of the program. I was a ball of emotions- happy tears were shed. It only took me 86 days to finish but that doesn’t mean I didn’t take rest days, because I absolutely did. I also doubled up some days because these workouts are conveniently short! And yes, I know, it’s November 18th lol. It’s just taken me a while to type up a post about it because I’m still blown away. I can’t believe I actually did it. There are really no words to explain this feeling. MM100 is the longest program I’ve done so far and I am so proud of myself for sticking to it and finishing all 100 workouts! Now it’s on to the next one! No one ever said going after the body of your dreams wouldn’t come with some scrapes and bruises. I do 60 min a day 5 days a week of a combined cardio and lifting. I use an at home workout system with right eating and the right kind of support and supplements. I wear gloves and support cushions but some days I miss my stepper 😂 or fail that final set and have my weight hit me. (See my 3 bruises?) Either way I’m determined to show up everyday and give it my all. The words “functional movements” get thrown around a lot in the fitness space, by myself included 🙋🏻♀️ but what does “functional” even mean?? Functional training basically means that the movements done in training have a practical carryover into daily life. The gray area is that this really looks different for everyone! Dr. Brad Shoenfeld stated in a 2010 article that he believes “it can be misleading to refer to exercise as either “functional” or “non-functional” because functional transfer from training exists on a continuum.” He also pointed out that full body strength training using any modality in beginners is functional because of the general strength gain. For example, this looks like having an easier time carrying groceries, more stamina for a busy work day on the feet or walking a lot, having better balance to tie your toes, and an easier time getting up and down of the floor. Functional can look different for athletes who need carry over into their sports, which could look like acceleration and deceleration, jumping, side shuffling, trunk rotation and throwing. My current functional training use a lot of heavier (for me) compound movements, with a lot of single leg strength and balance work for my hiking. I also (STILL) do a lot of rotator cuff and back work to strengthen to help my chronic neck and shoulder pain. I also train to make sure I can do whatever I ask my clients to do. Lastly I like to add in advanced core exercises and things to keep me interested (after 6 years of training this is a must). Examples of what is functional for me: 1️⃣Pistol squats 2️⃣Banded squat + calf raise 3️⃣Single leg RDL 4️⃣KB front raise (with a focus on keeping the elbow in) 5️⃣Ab wheel roll outs What does functional look like for YOU? 👇🏻
